Hi, I'm Anna — your Backup Bridesmaid.
There are probably a hundred different ways I could tell you about my experience, my career and what brought me here.
But I think the most honest place to start is simply with who I am.
I'm a wedding lover, a people person, an organiser, a problem solver and someone who genuinely gets a ridiculous amount of satisfaction from making sure everything comes together exactly as it should.
I've spent 19 years working in an industry I absolutely love.
I've worked behind the scenes.
I've worked in luxury wedding environments.
I've seen the magic.
I've seen the madness.
I've dealt with the pressure.
I've watched the smallest details become the biggest memories.
I've also been a bride, a bridesmaid and the unofficial planner for some of the people closest to me.
And somewhere along the way, I realised something…
I could actually be more useful as the Backup Bridesmaid than as the bridesmaid.
I found myself naturally stepping in.
Keeping an eye on timings.
Answering questions.
Making sure suppliers knew what was happening.
Finding the missing person.
Solving the little problems before they became big ones.
Making sure the bride and groom didn't have to worry.
And I noticed something else too.
Everyone relaxed a little more knowing Anna was involved.
The bridal party could actually be the bridal party.
Family could enjoy being family.
And the couple could focus on being a couple.
That feeling stayed with me.
Because after experiencing weddings from so many different perspectives — as a bride, a bridesmaid, a planner and someone working within the industry — I realised there was something incredibly valuable in simply having your person there.
Someone who knows you.
Someone who knows the plan.
Someone who knows what matters.
Someone who can quietly take care of the things you don't want to think about.
And that's where The Backup Bridesmaid was born.
I'm also a mum to four beautiful babies and very lucky to have an incredible, supportive and wonderful husband beside me.
And honestly? I think my family has made me better at what I do.
Four children have a funny way of strengthening your problem-solving skills, testing your patience and teaching you that absolutely nothing ever goes quite to plan.
They've taught me to stay calm when everything is happening at once, to think on my feet, to listen, to communicate and, perhaps most importantly, to look for the solution rather than dwell on the problem.
I'm always looking ahead, never looking back.
I genuinely believe that nothing is ever quite as bad as it first seems.
I see the beauty in most things and, when something doesn't go according to plan, I'll find a way to make the best of it.
And weddings — just like families — aren't all the same.
Not every family looks the same.
Not every relationship is straightforward.
Not every situation fits neatly into a box.
And that's okay.
Navigating those dynamics, personalities and logistics is actually one of my specialties.
I'll always make the couple my primary focus, because ultimately this is their day.
But I also know they didn't get to this chapter entirely on their own.
There are parents, siblings, grandparents, friends, children and so many important people who have helped shape their story.
So while the couple will always be at the centre of my attention, I want the people around them to feel included, looked after and special too.
Sometimes it's something tiny.
A quick check-in.
Remembering someone's name.
Knowing who needs a little extra help.
Making sure someone doesn't miss a special moment.
Those things might seem small.
But I genuinely believe the tiny, thoughtful touches can go the furthest.
And perhaps that's why this role feels so natural to me.
Because I'm not just interested in making sure the schedule runs on time.
I'm interested in making sure people feel good while it does.
I love the nervous excitement.
The happy tears.
The families coming together.
The friendships.
The speeches.
The chaos.
The dancing.
The tiny details that nobody else notices but you spent six months choosing.
And most of all, I love watching a couple finally let go, look around the room and realise:
"This is it. We're actually here."
That's the moment I want to protect.
Because you've done the planning.
You've made the decisions.
You've poured your heart into this day.
You deserve to be present for every second of it.
That's why I'm here.
Quietly behind the scenes. Completely in your corner.
Anna Hughes KeaneI've spent 19 years in an industry I absolutely love. I've seen the magic. I've seen the madness. I've seen the tiny details that make a wedding unforgettable.
And I've seen those same details fall through the cracks. I've seen brides pulled away from their own wedding because someone needs an answer. I've seen grooms sorting out suppliers. I've seen bridesmaids running around when they should be on the dance floor. I've seen family members worrying about things that simply aren't their problem.
And then I became a bride myself. And suddenly, I understood the other side of it.
You can plan the most beautiful wedding in the world — but if you're spending the day managing it, what's the point?
That's where I come in.
